9 Months Old

Sweet Cade, you are 9 months old!  You are super fun and I don't think it would be possible to love you any more than we do.  We are so thankful that YOU are OUR son!  We switched to a new doctor this month.  Her name is Dr. Smiley...the perfect name for a pediatrician!  We really liked her and I think you did too.  Here's a little more about you at the 9 month mark:

  • You weigh 21lbs., 3oz (60th%tile).
  • You are 29 inches (I think, the sheet it was written on was tossed out while dad was washing mom's car).  I do know it was the 81st %tile.
  • Your head is 18.75 inches.  The nurse measured it at 19in. which was in the 98th%tile...WHOA! :), but Dr. Smiley remeasured and got a slightly smaller measurement.  We didn't get the new %tile.
  • You wear size 3 diapers and size 12 month clothing, but 18 month pajamas seem to fit you best.
  • You have 5 teeth and the 6th is coming in.  Four on the top and two on the bottom.
  • You sleep about 8-9 hours straight through at night.  You still wake up sometime between 3:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., but Mommy doesn't mind so we haven't tried to sleep train you just yet.
  • You eat three meals a day, nurse twice a day, and take 4 bottles of formula a day.
  • You have become quite a picky eater!  You love all fruits, but detest most vegetables (with the exception of sweet potatoes and carrots).  Sometimes you even fake cry when I put a bite of vegetables in your mouth...especially if they're green!  If you don't cry you will turn your head, arch your back, bat at your ear, and make a yucky face.  It's hard not to laugh!
  • You LOVE to feed yourself.  You enjoy fruit puffs, toast, and shredded cheese.
  • You are now mobile!  While I wouldn't say you are technically crawling, you can definitely get wherever you want by army crawling/slithering on your tummy.  You're a quick little booger too!  You love to chase Cassius and try to touch him, but I don't think he likes this game as much as you do.
  • Your favorite toys continue to be things that you're not really supposed to have.  In the living room, you usually shoot straight for the fireplace or the blinds.  You also love Dad's keys (Mommy won't give you hers :)).  You cry and cry if we take something away from you that you're playing with.
  • You understand "kisses" and "up".  I'm sure you understand more, but those two words you physically respond to.  When I ask for kisses you turn towards me and bring an open mouth towards me.  :) You put your arms out when I say we're going up.
  • You're still a happy baby and you smile and squeal a lot.  You've also started doing this over-the-top adorable scrunchy face thing.  You scrunch up your nose, squint your eyes, and blow out of your nose really fast.  When we do it to you, you'll do it back...most of the time.  :)
We love, love, love you Cade and there's no greater gift than watching you grow and learn new things.  We are so blessed!

Stomach Bug

Cade had a stomach bug over the weekend.  At least I think that's what was going on.  Ms. Debbie said he had thrown up on Friday when I picked him up and so had another baby.  Sounds like a fun Friday for Ms. Debbie, huh?  I was hoping it was just a fluke, but he threw up twice yesterday and a little this morning.  His diapers have been a little interesting too.  I guess you could say this was his first time being sick.  Although, I'm not sure if we can really say he was sick as he was acting perfectly happy as you can see in the pictures I took earlier today.  I think it's all behind us now, thankfully, and we're ready to start another great week!

I even helped Mommy with the laundry!

On the Move

Before now, Cade's main mode of movement was rolling.  He would roll from toy to toy or from one end of his play mats to the other.  He could also turn in a circle on his belly and push backward a little bit.  This week, he's figured out how to go forward!  He pulls his body with his arms while kicking his legs like crazy.  It's hilarious and I laugh out loud every time I see him do it.  I can tell that his new mobility has relieved a bit of frustration for him.  He used to see a toy that he wanted and fuss a little if it was out of reach, but now he goes right for it!   He's incredibly curious and in to EVERYTHING!  I bet crawling is just around the corner and then we're really in trouble.

Tried to upload a video, but the site isn't cooperating.  :(
