5 Years Old!

My Sweet Cade,

You are 5 years old...a whole hand!  You have grown and changed so much over the past year and it is clear that your baby days are gone.  Celebrating you is one of our favorite things to do!  GJ came down to help us kick of the birthday festivities.  We surprised you with "Cade's Day"!  You were king of the day and got to choose where we went to lunch (you chose Chipotle), a play place to go to (your pick? - Sky Zone) and you got to pick out a new pet (your pet of choice? - two fish which you named Striper and Football).  Your actual birthday fell on Thanksgiving this year making it super special.  Grandmother, Grandaddy, and Betty were here to help us celebrate!  You had a Transformers party and were spoiled silly on your special day.  Here's a little more about you at 5 years old:

  • You weigh 41lbs (54%tile) and you're 43.5 inches tall (62%tile).  You wear 5T or kids XS in clothes and size 11.5 in shoes.
  • You're still a great sleeper!  You do not nap at school, but you always nap on the weekends at home.  We rarely hear from you at night.  And you're still a morning person!  You wake up smiling and full of energy - literally every day!
  • You're also still a great eater!  While you've become a little pickier, you still eat very well at nearly every meal.  For breakfast you prefer a granola bar with fruit and yogurt, for lunch you like pita chips with a cheese wedge or hummus, PB&J (and you LOVE chips!) and dinner is your pickiest meal.  Your favorite dinner is spaghetti with garlic rolls.  While you are happy to have a treat on treat nights, you don't seem to be a huge fan of sweets.  You're quite a messy eater!  :)
  • You are quite a complex little guy and your personality stretches across a wide spectrum of traits - ranging from very difficult to sweetest angel ever.  You are determined, curious, loud, smart, energetic, rough, kind-hearted, and competitive.  You become quite spirited when you are sleepy or hungry...and when we're around others (particularly when we have company or you are around peers who are just as energetic as you!)
  • What do you want to be when you grow up?  The President!  And you'd make a fantastic one!
  • Your favorite toys include Legos, remote control toys, Transformers, and animal toys.
  • You still love to read and you've been really into creating art projects lately.  You made a few Christmas decorations of your own this year!
  • You are extremely loved and adored and we could not be more proud of the little guy you are.  It is a true blessing to be your family!
We love you Cade!!

Happy Halloween!

Our first Halloween in the new 'hood was a success!  Optimus Prime and Batman had a ton of fun trick-or-treating!  We hit the streets for an hour or so, then came back home to hand out candy.  Surprisingly, the boys had just as much fun giving out the candy as they did getting it!

In the days leading up to Halloween, the boys each had a Halloween party at school and we had fun decorating the house and carving pumpkins.  We also hit a couple of pumpkin patches and fall festivals.  We love fall around here and this October did not disappoint!

Field Day

Cade had a ton of fun at his field day!  He reported that his favorite part was the Atlanta Motor Speedway (bike racing).  :)  Todd and I both got to attend - making it an extra special day for our extra special guy!

Soccer!

We are well into Cade's soccer season and it's been exciting to watch him develop his little soccer skills.  This is his first experience playing "to win" and it's been interesting to see how competitive, dedicated, focused, and hard-working he is at 4.  His high energy can be a lot to manage at times, but it certainly serves him well on the field!

He's playing with All-in Futbol Club in Sugar Hill this year and it's been a great experience!

Cade practices on Monday nights at Gary Pirkle park...it's perfect for Luke who loves to play at the park!

3 Years Old!

My sweet, sweet Lukey Bear,

You are 3 years old!  Your birthday was last Monday and we had so much fun celebrating you!  You LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your birthday and it's so fun to watch you bask in your day!  You woke up to streamers and balloons around your door then we had a special birthday breakfast (cinnamon rolls with sprinkles and a candle) and you opened your gift from Cade.  At school you wore a birthday crown and your class had popsicles in your honor.  :)  After school we had a special birthday dinner (hot dogs, your favorite!) and celebrated some more with cupcakes, balloons, and gifts!  I hope we made you feel like the most special birthday boy ever!  When you woke up the next morning, you immediately began crying.  When I asked you what was wrong, you said you were so sad because it wasn't your birthday anymore...sweet boy.  :)

Here's a little more about your 3 year old self!

  • You wear size 3T clothing and size 9 shoes.
  • You are a decent sleeper - you still nap for about an hour and a half each day.  You're going through a rough patch with night-time sleeping and have been getting up at least once a night. Sometimes you say you're scared by yourself.
  • Your favorite foods are hot dogs, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, vanilla yogurt, oranges, Nutri Grain bars, plain pasta with cheese, sausage, and anything sweet.  You have a mean sweet tooth and you are seriously picky!!  Getting you to eat is one of our biggest struggles.
  • You are silly, independent, busy, crazy smart, adorable, and as of late...pretty fussy.  While you are happy and laughing/goofing off a lot of the time, you are also fussing/screaming/crying a lot of the time too.  I remember 3 being a difficult age for your brother, and so far it seems like you're following suit.  You scream and cry when you get frustrated or when you don't get your way.   Once we get over this hump I have a feeling you're going to be a pretty laid back little guy.
  • You have very selective hearing.  At times, you seem to hear EVERYTHING (you can hear a term or phrase one time - when we're not even talking to you - then turn around and use it in context).  Other times (usually when we ask you to do something you don't want to do) you act like you can't hear a thing!
  • You like to laugh and be silly with people - particularly Cade.  You have the cutest laugh I've ever heard!
  • Your favorite things include:  your giraffe bwankie, milk, playing tickle monster with Mommy, playing with cars, your Leap pad, and playing with Cade.
  • You do NOT like:  having your teeth brushed, loud noises, or the dark.
We love you Lukey Bear and we are so lucky to be your family!
