Two and a Half

Your biggest CHEESE!  You smile and say cheese anytime we want to take your picture.  :)

My sweet <and spicy> Lukey Bear,

You are two and a half!  You are crazy smart, incredibly articulate (for a two year old, or course), a little quirky, and so, so funny!  You are in the throes of the terrible twos and we're getting a glimpse of your "spicier side".  You can be as sweet as sugar, but you are really exercising those lungs here lately!  When you don't get your way you scream and cry and sometimes you even flop around on the floor a little.  Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get over the hump soon enough!  Here's a little more about you at 2 and a half:

  • You weigh about 29lbs.
  • You wear size 2T clothes and size 8 shoes.
  • You are a good sleeper.  You still take a 2 hour nap each day and we don't hear too much from you once you go to bed.
  • You are a very picky eater.  Your favorite food is pancakes (you told me so yourself) and you gobble up at least 3 pancakes (sometimes 4) every Saturday morning!  You also like grapes, pineapple, pasta, garlic bread, waffles, NutriGrain bars, Cheerios, avocado (sometimes), corn dogs, and sausage.  You won't eat much else and it seems like there are many meals where you don't eat a thing.  You still LOVE, LOVE, LOVE milk and ask for it several times a day.
  • You are a serious mama's boy and you've gotten somewhat clingy lately.  You won't let your poor daddy do anything at all for you and sometimes you cry when I drop you off at school.  It makes me so sad every time!
  • You are super funny and you like to make us laugh.  :)  You have THE MOST ADORABLE laugh in the world.
  • You love to listen to The Lion Guard CD.  You ask me to turn it up and you sing along with the words.  It's SO precious!
  • You pronounce your ls as ws.  You call yourself "Wookey".  I've been showing you how to hold your tongue to make the l sound.  So now you say, "I'm L-L-L-L-Wookey!" and then you laugh and laugh.
  • You like to play in water.  You often ask for a little bowl of water to play with your toys in.
  • You like to play with toy animals, dinosaurs, Blaze trucks, and anything that Cade is playing with.
  • You say that your favorite colors are blue and red and your favorite TV show is Blaze (it's the only thing you ever ask to watch).
  • You love your "giraffe bwankie" and take it with you everywhere.
  • You love being the baby of the family.  You often say you're a baby and ask if you can play with baby toys.  Sometimes you even talk like a baby and if we call you a big boy you say, "No, I'm a baby!".
  • You cry when you don't get what you want, and this is very easy to trigger, BUT you also laugh and giggle very easily and underneath the current battle for independence you are a laid-back, easy-going little guy.
I've captured about 10% of your 2.5 year old self and I would give anything to be able to find the words to accurately depict everything about you at this age.  Although this is a bit of a rough stage for you, it is also a super sweet, lovable, adorable, exciting stage as well.  WE LOVE YOU WOOKEY BEAR!!!  And we are the luckiest family ever to have you as our "baby".
Here's a picture of you from a couple of weeks ago at your school's "Snow Day"!

Ahoy, Matey!

Today was Pirate Day in Cade's classroom.  They played "pirate games" - whatever that means, built a pirate ship, made "pirate food" - again, I'm at a loss, and enjoyed the day as a pirate crew.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day fell on a Sunday this year so we had a V-Day themed breakfast and exchanged some goodies.  I am more in love with my 3 Valentines than ever and I'm the luckiest girl in the world to love and be loved by my three handsome Valentines!

Best Super Bowl Party Ever

Tonight we had a family Super Bowl party.  And by party I mean eating dinner in the living room and having a piece of football cake for dessert.  Cade said, "Mommy, I'm having a great time at our Super Bowl party!"...and he really was!  He sat and watched for longer than I expected him to, and Lukey had fun rolling all over the couch while we tried to eat. Cade was rooting for the Panthers (he says they're going to win because they listen to their coach and because he likes Cam Newton).  At one point Todd said it was the best Super Bowl party ever, and we all agreed!

Early Spring?

Yesterday was Groundhog Day.  The boys both predicted that the groundhog would see his shadow, and they had fun calling around to get everyone else's predictions too!  Phil did not see his shadow this year, and it turned out to be a 72 degree day so I think his early spring prediction was right on!
