Lukey Bear is 7!

My sweet, sweet Lukey Bear...you are 7! Well, you've been 7 for a couple of months (Mommy got a little behind with the blogging). To celebrate your big day, we went to White Water and had a family party at home. It was a GREAT day!

I've said it since you were born - I am utterly fascinated by you! You are a very special little boy (and no, I'm not just saying it because I'm your Mom ). :) I look at you and often think about how lucky I am to have been chosen as your Mommy! You are, without a doubt, a special gift in our lives. Here's your 7 year old stats:

  • You wear size 7/8 clothes and size 1 shoes. Your favorite get-up is shorts and no shirt. Pants and long-sleeved shirts are not your favorite and jeans will just about send you over the edge.
  • Your favorite foods include: donuts, waffles, fish, tuna packs, steak, seaweed, blueberries, rolls, coconut yogurt, and Pita chips. You LOVE to snack and prefer little snacks throughout the day than 3 solid meals. Breakfast is your favorite. Dinner is a struggle. You still have a mean sweet tooth and love, love, love treat nights!
  • You want to be an author when you grow up. You write and draw all the time and I really hope you stick with it. You have real talent! Your writing is funny, clever, and witty. You add little pictures with speech bubbles in the margins of your school work.
  • You love to create things. You are always working on some kind of invention. A dog groomer and a Harry Potter game are two of your latest 'inventions'. You love science kits and creating things out of cardboard, paper, straws, and tape.
  • Your imagination continues to be out of this world! You still play with straws...for very long stints. You will, on occasion, retreat to Lukey Land where you roll around on the floor playing with a straw, toy, piece of paper...whatever, and have a full blown movie going in your mind - sound effects and all.
  • You are FUNNY! You like to play with words and use them in unexpected ways. Your vocabulary is unmatched!
  • You're silly and love to laugh and make others laugh.
  • You LOVE to build with Legos and will work for hours and hours on Lego sets.
  • Books are your favorite thing. You read...constantly! We literally had to ban books from the dinner table. :) Right now you're really into fact books (encyclopedias, 5,000 fact books, Wow! Facts, National Geographic, etc.). You also love the Cat News Network series - you recently wrote an email to the author and she wrote you back!, Big Nate, and Tom Gates. You've been into graphic novels lately.
  • You're pretty sensitive. You cry fairly easily and little things upset you.
  • Loves: Legos, Minecraft, Harry Potter, books, your family, snacks, movie night, gifts, holidays, candy
  • Dislikes: the dark, bugs, having to clean up, Cade "messing" with you

  • At seven, what I hope you know most of all is that you are so, so loved, admired, adored, and appreciated! We know your 7th year is going to be just as amazing as you are.

Brown Paper Bags

For the past week or so our sweet Lukey has been giving gifts to all of us. I’ve gotten a bottle of shampoo and a book of poems, Cade’s received a bag of coins and a pile of Pokémon cards, and Todd has gotten a candle and some screen cleaner. It’s just so precious the way he really thinks about what each of us would like and then puts it into a little “gift bag”. Our insanely creative, independent, fact-loving, artistic, nonconforming, reading-machine has a huge and thoughtful heart that we are so grateful for. Keep sharing your gifts with the world little man. Everyone who is blessed enough to know you is in for a real treat.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a nice Memorial Day weekend with the fam! On Saturday we tried our hand at fishing - no luck but we had fun trying! On Sunday we hiked at Elachee Nature Center and had a backyard family “pool party” 😊 Todd grilled and the boys had so much fun in the pool. The weather wasn’t great on Monday so we hung around the house and watched The Addams Family. We are grateful for our family time together. Happy Memorial Day!

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Mother’s Day Weekend

First - I am the luckiest mommy in the world to be loved by
my three sweethearts! My loves really spoiled me this weekend and I’m so grateful. I had a stomach bug on Saturday and sweet Cade took such great care of me - rubbing my back, getting a tray for my water, and covering me with a blanket. Today for Mother’s Day I was showered with sweet cards and a fun new e-reader. Chef Todd cooked a delicious meal of steak and crab cakes and even made a cheese board! Being a mommy to my two little loves is the greatest honor of my life. I’m so glad God granted me the gift of raising C and L and I couldn’t ask for a better partner to do it with. ❤️

Easter 2020

We had a wonderful, yet a little untraditional, Easter this year! We had an egg hunt here at home, dyed Easter eggs, and had a yummy Easter feast. We watched the Easter service together on the couch and Cade and I went on a hunt for the giant neighborhood eggs. We didn’t find one, but we have a game plan for next year. :) The Easter bunny even made his way to our house. Guess he’s the only one not on lock down.
