6 Months Old

Today, Baby Cade, is your half-birthday!  You are an incredibly enjoyable little guy and we are so thankful for you and the joy you bring to our lives every single day.  Here is a little more about you at 6 months:

*Your 6 month check-up is next week so we’ll check back in with weight and length.

• You wear size 9-12 month and 12 month clothing.
• You wear size 3 diapers.
• You eat 6-7 times a day with one feeding of rice cereal or oatmeal in the evening.
• You go to bed around 7:45 and sleep for about 8-9 hours straight through, then back down for an hour or two. 
• You are starting to sit up all on your own.
• You’re still a very happy baby and smile at everyone!….showing no signs of any stranger anxiety as of yet. 
• You’ve started fussing/crying when we take something away from you that you want - especially if you’re chewing a damp cloth and we take it away.  You’ve also become somewhat fussy in the car sometimes.
• You are becoming increasingly curious about the world around you.  You reach out for EVERYTHING and whatever you grab goes straight in your mouth. 
• Your favorite things include:  listening to Mommy sing, playing airplane, drinking water from your sippy cup or from a real cup - you hold your mouth open really wide any time I get a glass of water, sucking/chewing on a wet wash cloth (and to think we’ve spent money on real toys!), toys that light up, and you still love your activity gym or anything that you can reach out for.  You seem to really like baths also.  You scream and squeal waiting for the tub to fill up.  So precious! 
• We’re still getting to know your personality, but you seem to be pretty independent.  You are content to play alone.  When I’m playing with you, you are a lot more interested in the toys around you than you are in interacting with me. 

We love you Cade!  Can’t wait to see what month 6 has in store!

Adding to the fun...you also kept shoving the sticker on your shirt in your mouth!  :)  At least I was able to snap a few cute pictures before it was all crumpled up. 

Cade's Play Place

If you've ever been to our house, you know it's not a very kid friendly place.  The main level has nothing but hardwood which isn't very inviting for an energetic 6 month old.  We ordered some foam mats and have set up an area for Cade to play in the living room. He's rolling over a lot more now and is just starting to sit up so we got it together just in time!  Today was the first day he's played there and he was squealing and happy-screaming a lot.  I guess that means he loves it! 

On Saturday we got to have lunch with Carrie and Caroline.  It was so wonderful to see them!  Caroline is two months old now and Cade looked like an absolute giant next to her.  I was so caught up in conversation that I totally forgot to snap a couple pictures.  With summer right around the corner, I'm sure we'll have many more photo opps. to come.   

Also in weekend news, Cade learned to hold onto his sippy cup!  I have to give all the credit to Daddy for this one.  He fed him last night and when I came downstairs, Cade was holding onto his cup!  They practiced a little more today - with water only, of course.  :) He doesn't drink from it when he's holding it, just kind of chews on it.  His second bottom tooth came in and I think his gums might be a little sore. 

Fun in the Sun

We went to the park for a little fun in the sun.  To be more precise, we went to the park and had fun trying to stay OUT of the sun.  Cade isn't old enough for sunblock just yet and the fear of baby sunburn made me one worried mama!  Not a whole lot to say, but we got some great shots of Baby C that we wanted to share. 

Two more weeks of school and then we'll be set for a whole summer full of fun in the sun! 

Changes

Watching a baby grow...watching your baby grow has to be life's greatest gift.  It's so amazing, in fact, that sometimes I have a hard time taking it all in.  I wonder if this feeling ever goes away.  Or will I forever be overwhelmed with adoration and love over seemingly simple things.  Earlier this week when I picked Cade up from day care, Ms. Debbie was holding him.  When I walked up, he reached out for me.  I've been waiting for him to do this and it made all of the stress of the day completely disappear.  I love waiting and watching for Cade to reach the next milestone. 

Today we celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a yummy meal at Uncle Julio's in Dunwoody.  We couldn't help but comment on how our "celebrating" of such holidays has changed drastically since Cade's arrival.  Not that we mind, of course.  :)  Feliz Cinco de Mayo!
